Examiner tips
- Use the exact wording from the mark scheme (e.g., "large and/or brightly coloured petals"),
- Show each adaptation as a separate point to match the 4 marks.
- Include both visual and olfactory attractants to cover all aspects of the scheme.
Common mistakes
- Mixing up the function of petals and sepals; students sometimes describe sepals as attracting insects.
- Omitting the sticky stigma or the position of the anthers; students often leave out one of the key adaptations.
- Using vague terms like "good-looking" instead of "large and brightly coloured".
