- Wind-pollinated flowers produce greater numbers of pollen grains, whereas insect-pollinated flowers produce fewer
- Wind-pollinated pollen grains have smooth surfaces (no spikes or hooks), whereas insect-pollinated pollen grains have spikes or hooks on the outside
- Insect-pollinated pollen grains are sticky (to attach to insects / stigma), whereas wind-pollinated grains are not sticky
