Model answer (4 marks)

Monoclonal antibodies are produced from a single clone of cells, so all the antibodies are identical.
They all bind to the same specific antigen or epitope.
Because they recognise only one target, they can be directed precisely at a disease cell or pathogen.
This specificity means healthy cells are largely spared, giving fewer side‑effects than non‑specific treatments.
