Instrumental analysis can identify the elements or compounds present in the drink, for example using ICP‑MS for minerals and HPLC for colourants.
It can also give the concentration of each substance, providing quantitative data on the amount of each mineral or colouring.
These methods are faster than traditional tests, giving results in minutes rather than hours.
They are more accurate and sensitive, detecting trace amounts that colour‑impression or titration methods would miss.
