## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Anaerobic respiration in yeast occurs without oxygen
2. Yeast breaks down glucose to produce alcohol (ethanol) and carbon dioxide
3. In muscle cells, anaerobic respiration produces lactic acid instead of alcohol and carbon dioxide
4. Anaerobic respiration releases less energy than aerobic respiration / is less efficient
