## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Propene reacts with steam (in an addition reaction)
2. A phosphoric acid catalyst is used
3. This is an addition reaction (a larger single molecule is formed from two smaller molecules)
4. The functional group in propanol is –OH (hydroxyl group)
