## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Common names vary between languages / countries / regions
2. The binomial system is universal / used by scientists worldwide
3. Each organism is given a unique two-part name consisting of genus and species
4. This avoids confusion / prevents the same organism being given different names or different organisms sharing the same name
