1. Classification allows organisms to be organised / sorted into groups based on shared characteristics
2. It makes it easier to identify or study organisms
3. Classification shows evolutionary / phylogenetic relationships between organisms
4. Scientists worldwide can share and communicate information about organisms using a common / universal system
