1. Classification allows organisms to be organised / sorted into groups based on shared characteristics
2. It makes it easier to identify organisms / helps scientists identify an unknown organism
3. It allows scientists to communicate / share information about organisms worldwide / using a universal system
4. It shows evolutionary / phylogenetic relationships between organisms / which organisms are related to each other
