# Explain why poly(propene) and nylon are classified as different types of polymer.

> Poly(propene) is used to make plastic containers, whilst nylon is used to make clothing fibres and ropes.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Poly(propene) is an addition polymer
2. Poly(propene) is made from a single monomer / propene monomers joining together with no other product formed (no small molecule lost)
3. Nylon is a condensation polymer
4. Nylon is formed when two different monomers react together and a small molecule (water) is released / eliminated
