## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. High temperature increases the rate of transpiration
2. Dry / low humidity conditions increase the concentration gradient of water vapour, speeding up diffusion out of the leaf through the stomata
3. Water loss via transpiration exceeds water uptake by the roots
4. Cells lose water, turgor pressure decreases, causing wilting
