> Urea is a waste product that must be removed from the body to maintain a constant internal environment. This removal is an example of excretion.

## Mark scheme (5 marks)

1. Urea is produced in the liver
2. Urea is formed from the breakdown of excess amino acids
3. Urea is transported in the blood to the kidneys
4. Urea is filtered out of the blood in the kidneys
5. Urea leaves the body dissolved in urine (via the bladder / urethra)
