# Explain how increasing the pressure of gaseous reactants increases the rate of reaction.

> Hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas react together to form ammonia. A chemist increases the pressure of the reaction mixture.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Increasing pressure means the reacting particles are closer together
2. Particles collide more often / there is a greater frequency of collisions
3. There is a higher rate of successful collisions
4. Therefore the rate of reaction increases
