# Explain how bacteria cause disease in the human body.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Bacteria release/produce toxins
2. Toxins damage cells/tissues OR interfere with normal body processes
3. Bacteria multiply/reproduce rapidly (inside the body/host)
4. This leads to symptoms of disease / damage causes symptoms such as fever, pain or tissue damage
