# Explain how a plant uses the products of photosynthesis to support its growth and other life processes.

> Plants carry out photosynthesis to produce glucose. This glucose can then be used in a number of ways inside the plant.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Glucose is used in (cellular) respiration to release energy
2. Glucose is converted into cellulose (for cell walls) / used to make structural components for growth
3. Glucose is converted into starch for storage
4. Glucose (combined with nitrates/minerals) is used to make proteins / amino acids
