# Explain how a pathogen can spread from one person to another through contaminated water.

> Cholera is a disease caused by a bacterium that can affect thousands of people in areas where clean water is not available.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Pathogen enters the water supply / water becomes contaminated with the pathogen (bacterium)
2. The contaminated water is consumed / drunk by a person
3. The pathogen enters the body and infects the host
4. The pathogen can reproduce / multiply inside the host, causing disease
