# Describe two limitations of the particle model when used to represent the three states of matter.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. The model shows no forces between the particles
2. All particles are represented as spheres (but real particles are not all spherical)
3. The spheres in the model are shown as solid, but real particles are not solid spheres
4. The model does not explain why atoms of some elements react with one another
