## Mark scheme (5 marks)

1. The nucleus is at the centre of the atom
2. The nucleus contains protons and neutrons
3. Protons have a positive charge and neutrons have no charge (neutral)
4. Electrons orbit/are arranged around the nucleus (in shells / at a relatively large distance from the nucleus)
5. Electrons have a negative charge
