# Describe the events that occur from ovulation to implantation in the human female reproductive system.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. An egg cell is released from the ovary (ovulation).
2. The egg cell travels along the oviduct towards the uterus.
3. Fertilisation occurs in the oviduct when a sperm cell nucleus fuses with the egg cell nucleus.
4. The fertilised egg (zygote / embryo) divides and implants into the lining of the uterus.
