# Describe the difference between a communicable disease and a non-communicable disease, and give one example of each.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. A communicable disease can be passed/spread from one person to another (or from organism to organism)
2. A valid example of a communicable disease (e.g. tuberculosis, influenza, malaria, HIV, cholera)
3. A non-communicable disease cannot be passed/spread from one person to another (it is not infectious)
4. A valid example of a non-communicable disease (e.g. type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, lung cancer, obesity-related disease)
