# Compare addition polymerisation and condensation polymerisation. Include in your answer the type of monomer required for each and what is produced alongside the polymer in condensation polymerisation.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. Addition polymerisation uses monomers with a carbon–carbon double bond / unsaturated monomers / alkenes
2. Condensation polymerisation uses monomers with two functional groups
3. Addition polymerisation produces only the polymer / no other product is released
4. Condensation polymerisation also produces a small molecule such as water
