> A tidal barrage is built across a river estuary. As the tide comes in and goes out, seawater flows through tunnels in the barrage, generating electricity.

## Mark scheme (4 marks)

1. The kinetic energy of the moving seawater turns a turbine
2. The turbine drives/turns a generator
3. The generator produces/generates electricity (transfers kinetic energy to electrical energy)
4. Tidal energy is a renewable energy resource because it can be replenished whilst it is being used
