## Mark scheme (5 marks)

1. The skydiver initially accelerates (downwards) after leaving the aircraft
2. The resultant force is downwards because weight is greater than air resistance (drag)
3. As velocity increases, air resistance (drag) increases
4. The rate of acceleration decreases (the skydiver is still accelerating but more slowly)
5. At terminal velocity, air resistance equals weight, so the resultant force is zero and velocity is constant
