How to get a grade A* in A-Level Biology

An A* in A-Level Biology comes from applying knowledge to unfamiliar data and experiments (AO2/AO3) — the essay and the "analyse the data" questions separate A* from A.

What a grade A* answer does

  • Practise data-analysis and statistics questions (interpreting graphs, choosing and justifying a statistical test).
  • Plan the synoptic essay (AQA) — link topics across the whole course.
  • Answer "suggest / explain" application questions on unfamiliar experiments.
  • Be precise on control of variables and experimental design.
